The University of Aruba (UA) is a public, accredited university located in Oranjestad, Aruba in the Caribbean, established in 1988 following Aruba’s attainment of autonomous country status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It serves as the main higher education institution on the island, offering academic education, research, and societal services with instruction primarily in English and Dutch. The university’s main campus is housed in historic structures such as the La Salle Building in downtown Oranjestad, and it enrolls around 650 students, fostering an interactive learning environment with small class sizes and personalized guidance. UA’s academic structure includes an Academic Foundation Year to prepare students for degree programs and four major faculties — Law, Accounting/Finance/Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Arts & Science — providing undergraduate and select graduate degrees in fields like Aruban Law, business, social work, sustainable engineering, and organizational management.
