Maynooth University is an internationally recognised university located in the historic university town of Maynooth, about 25 km west of Dublin, Ireland. The university became an autonomous institution in 1997, but traces its origins back to the Royal College of St. Patrick (1795), giving it over 200 years of academic heritage. Maynooth hosts more than 17,000 students from over 100 countries, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes across many disciplines. It offers strong programmes in humanities, sciences, social sciences, business, law, education, engineering and more. The university is research‑led with a lively scholarly culture and contributions to global academic challenges. It is listed among the 501–600 bracket in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 and also ranked 771–780 in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
