Near East University

Near East University is one of the leading higher education institutions in Northern Cyprus, established in 1988 and located in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, where it occupies a central position as a fully integrated academic village. Since its foundation, the university has attracted highly qualified academic and administrative staff with extensive international experience, which has contributed to its strong global academic standing and membership in numerous international organizations, including the European University Association, the International Association of Universities, and UNESCO. Near East University is recognized as a pioneer in academic infrastructure in Northern Cyprus, hosting the country’s first specialized faculties and the only Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry in Turkish Cyprus. It has also achieved distinction in technology and computing by housing a high-performance supercomputer considered among the earliest advanced high-capacity systems worldwide. The university features one of the largest academic libraries in the Eastern Mediterranean region and operates a highly advanced university hospital that serves as a major center for medical education and research. With a student population exceeding 26,000 from more than 100 countries enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, the university provides a comprehensive campus life in northern Nicosia, including on-campus housing, sports facilities, shopping and dining areas, fitness centers, hospitals, libraries, banking services, media and broadcasting centers, and recreational clubs, in addition to airport transportation and 24-hour health and security services.
