University of Debrecen

The University of Debrecen is a higher education institution located in Debrecen, Hungary, and is recognized as the oldest continuously operating university in the country, dating back to 1538. The university has a long-standing and well-developed English-language education system for international students, with a strong focus on medical studies. Instruction in English was first introduced in 1986 and has since gained wide international recognition. The university operates two main campuses within the city of Debrecen. The historic main campus accommodates most departments within the faculties of arts, sciences, informatics, medicine, music, as well as the botanical garden. The newer Kassai Road Campus primarily houses the faculties of law and economics. In addition to these major campuses, the university includes several smaller academic units distributed throughout the city, such as the physics departments and the Institute of Nuclear Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, which together form a compact mini-campus, along with the Faculty of Agronomy.
