The University of Szeged (Szegedi Tudományegyetem, SZTE) is a leading public research university in Hungary, with historical origins dating back to 1581 and formal re‑establishment in 1872, operating primarily from Szeged in southern Hungary. It is consistently ranked among Hungary’s top institutions and often in the global top 500, hosting around 22,000 students including over 3,700 international students from about 130 countries. SZTE offers a broad range of Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. programs in English, German, French and Hungarian across about 80 international degree options in 12 faculties spanning medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, natural sciences, engineering, law, economics and business, humanities and social sciences, and arts. The university maintains a strong international research profile with around 700 research areas and 19 doctoral schools, active involvement in Erasmus+ and other mobility programs, extensive global partnerships and advanced research facilities, while its urban setting in Szeged provides a vibrant academic and student culture.
